Loughborough-based The Access Group, a provider of business management software to small and mid-sized organisations, has acquired Oysta Technology which specialises in care tech solutions.

Established in 2008, Oysta Technology operates in the UK and Spain. Access Health, Support and Care (HSC) intends to integrate Oysta into its ecosystem of software offering telecare technology.

Oysta states that its digital solutions facilitate effective decision-making, prioritisation and personalised care, delivering better outcomes and safety. Oysta currently works with a range of partners in the UK and Ireland, including local authorities, social care providers, housing associations, care homes and NHS trusts, to help manage immediate and long-term care needs. It has more than 200 UK customers.

The acquisition of a Spanish-led organisation also marks Access HSC’s expansion into Europe.

Mario Zuccaro, founder of Oysta, said: “Over 17 years ago, I embarked on a journey to foster inclusivity, improve the lives of vulnerable independent people (VIPs), and transform the care delivery paradigm. I am convinced that the Access Group is the ideal partner to realise Oysta’s mission. Together, we will prioritise the safety of VIPs both at home and on the go, empower social care teams with informed decision-making, facilitate preventative care, and bridge the gap between health and social care.”

Steve Sawyer, managing director of Access HSC, said: “Oysta’s cutting-edge technology and user-friendly devices will complement our existing technology-enabled care solution, Access Assure. Its solutions – including care and lone-worker devices, wearable GPS alarms and sensors – allow organisations to manage and respond efficiently to immediate and longer-term care needs. With Oysta we can help healthcare professionals and family members take a much more proactive and preventative approach to care.

“We’re looking forward to making this acquisition a great success as part of Access HSC. It’s the next step on our mission to integrate health and social care and build out a market-leading technology enabled care solution portfolio. It will help even more people live safer, independent lives for longer in the place they call home. Together, we are in an excellent position to drive a significant transformation in health and social care.”
