Elderly and specialist care provider Meallmore has appointed Julie-Anne Thomson as care home manager of Auchtercrag Care Home in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, a purpose-built care facility for residents with a range of nursing and support needs including palliative care and individuals living with dementia.

Thomson started her career in care in 2012 as a care assistant at St Modan’s Care Home in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire and worked her way up to senior carer and team leader. In 2017, she was seconded to Bayview Care Home in Cruden Bay, Aberdeenshire and later became deputy manager and then manager in 2018. Since 2021 she has been manager of St Modan’s Care Home in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire.

Thomson said: “I’m proud to lead the wonderful team at Auchtercrag House, bringing with me years of experience and a passion for person-centred care. We’ve got a great, supportive team which works really well together. There’s a real team spirit and positive atmosphere, and everyone is working incredibly hard. I strongly believe in leading by example, and one of my top priorities is ensuring our team feels supported, especially when it comes to learning and development. When our staff thrive, so do our residents. “Since joining Meallmore in 2012 as a carer, I’ve been fortunate to grow my career within a company that truly values its people
