Over 800 care homes sign up to partnership to tackle infections

Over care homes have already signed up to a partnership designed to tackle infections and learn from the mistakes of the pandemic.

VIVALDI Social Care was set up in October 2022 by Care EnglandUniversity College London and The Outstanding Society to build on the national Vivaldi study where researchers and care providers worked together to produce evidence rapidly, which directly informed care home policy on Covid-19.

A spokesperson for the initiative said: “Our mission is to improve the quality of life for people living, visiting, and working in care homes, while also reducing the risk of infections and avoiding hospital admissions. We endeavour to achieve this through VIVALDI Social Care that utilises existing data, with minimal input required from care home providers.”

The new initiative aims to establish a network of 1,500 care homes in England dedicated to improving care quality through research and that are open to the idea of sharing residents’ data with appropriate governance and oversight.
