Oldham Council completes £2.4m care home acquisition

Oldham Council has completed the £2.4 million acquisition of Chadderton Total Care after it fell into administration.

The deal for the care home, which is the second largest in the borough with 138 beds, was completed through the council’s wholly owned subsidiary, Oldham Total Care.

An Oldham Council spokesperson said: “Due to the low number of available nursing beds in the borough the alternative option would have been relocating residents to nursing placements outside of the borough, which would have been detrimental to the health and well-being of residents and likely cost the council in excess of £5 million.

“The council are proud of the work that has been undertaken to safeguard and protect 100 plus residents and the jobs of 210 staff at Chadderton Total Care.”

Oldham Council said no decisions had been made regarding the amalgamation of the care home with its wholly-owned care group, MioCare.
