National Care Group releases account of its progress

National Care Group’s team of quality checkers

National Care Group (NCG), which provides support services to vulnerable adults has released its Quality Account 2022/23, describing how its business is developing.

The report revealed that in its sixth year of operation, it has grown to cater for 1,290 people and employs more than 2,600 staff, supporting adults with learning disabilities, mental health diagnoses, acquired brain injury, and other additional needs.

The Quality Account also highlights the company’s investment into growth, both organic and through strategic acquisition.

Mike Cleasby, quality director at NCG, said: “The Quality Account creates an opportunity for us to stop and reflect on the achievements of our commitment to delivering quality and continual improvement, and celebrates the successes of the people we support and our colleagues.

“A highlight of the last year has been the creation of a team of quality checkers. The team of seven colleagues are all people we support from across England and Wales who applied and achieved their new roles. They are responsible for visiting our services to make observations through the eyes of those who have lived experience. I look forward to growing the size of the team and their valuable contributions over the year ahead.”

In addition to reporting on feedback from supported individuals and their families, the report also reiterated the importance of communication and support between colleagues. To support this, NCG launched a colleague engagement app, Engage, in February. For the first time, everyone from across the organisation is connected to everyone else and news and resources are available at their fingertips.

NCG stated: “Engage has created a thriving digital community, empowering NCG colleagues with information, support, and recognition. A new newsletter, Changing Lives, for colleagues and the people supported was also delivered, produced in oversized print for easier reading. The newsletter updates on organisational news, celebrates career milestones and achievements and brings to life how individuals are being supported to increase their independence and unlock their full potential.”

Other priorities for NCG is continued focus on growth and service developments, tand more digitalisation including the rollout of digital care plans and digital medication management to be launched this autumn.
