HC-One is launching a new apprenticeship prospectus for people working in care homes across England.

The prospectus, delivered in partnership with training provider Lifetime Training to mark National Apprenticeship Week, showcases more than 20 apprenticeships available to newly-recruited and existing staff. The courses cover a wide range of roles including adult care worker, production chef, hospitality manager and data analyst. From autumn 2023 HC-One will also offer the chance to train as a registered nursing associate, through the apprenticeship route.

Susan Beasley, apprenticeship and qualifications manager, said: “We recognise how important apprenticeships are in supporting our colleagues to improve and grow their careers in care, so we are committed to continuing to develop and increase the number of apprenticeship opportunities available to them.”

The 16th annual National Apprenticeship Week runs between 6 and 12  February 2023. With the theme Skills for Life it aims to champions the positive impact that apprenticeships have on individuals, organisations and the wider economy.

During the week HC-One and Lifetime Training are sharing apprentice success stories across social media. In 2022 223 staff members completed an apprenticeship programme, and another 850 are set to complete in the next two years. HC-One’s own research found 91% of employees who achieved an apprenticeship said it improved their ability to perform their current job, and 87% said it helped their career.

Niall Hutton, nursing assistant at Capwell Grange Care Home in Luton, recently completed the Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3 Apprenticeship programme. He said: “Completing my apprenticeship has given me the confidence to progress further and I hope to soon start a nursing apprenticeship programme with HC-One with the aim to become a registered nurse working in adult social care in the future.”
