Luxury care home developer and operator Hamberley Care Homes has opened its latest care home, Alston House in Eastleigh.

The property is the latest development funded and owned by London based-investor Rynda Healthcare. It was built by the Highwood Group.

Alston House is a former police station which has retained significant elements of its original 1920s façade. The home comprises 80 bedrooms, with a cinema, boutique café/bar area, family room, a hair and beauty salon, lounges and landscaped gardens. The home also has four apartments at ground floor and first floor level which though separate have internal access to the care home allowing couples to stay together while providing care to one or both residents. Enhanced infection control features include Covid-secure visitation suites, in-built thermal imaging technology in the entrance lobbies and an advanced ventilation system, which ensures the air in public spaces is replaced four times an hour.

Michael Walton, chief executive at Rynda Healthcare, said: “We are delighted that Alston House is complete, and the first residents have now moved in. Alston House provides a new benchmark for the Eastleigh market through its outstanding specification and the quality of care provided by Hamberley.”

Daniel Kay, director of the Hamberley Group, said: “We are delighted to have opened Alston House and congratulate Highwood on the delivery of this state-of-the-art luxury care home. The team is pleased to be welcoming its first residents in the coming weeks and looks forward to providing an outstanding care experience for the people of Eastleigh in the years ahead.”

Hamberley Care Homes now manages 20 luxury care homes.
