Cornerstone Healthcare has secured Virgin Money funding for a multi-million pound care home renovation.

The funding will be used for the renovation and relaunch of the former Little Sisters of the Poor care home in Harborne near Birmingham.

Cornerstone chief executive, Paul Hayes, said: “Our ongoing relationship with Virgin Money has been key to our recent growth and development. Securing the support of Virgin Money for this exciting and innovative project lays the foundation for Cornerstone’s latest phase of expansion into the West Midlands, where we look forward to providing our specialist care pathway for people living with complex and challenging needs and working collaboratively to support the local health and social care system.”

Once renovated and relaunched, the service will provide care for people with complex and challenging behaviours associated with neurological degenerative needs and a mental health diagnosis.

The 76-bed development will add to Cornerstone’s existing services in Hampshire, Surrey, Somerset and Bristol (opening 2025) and will bring over 140 new jobs to the local area.

Work on the site is due to start in May with a project completion of summer 2025.
