CoolCare earns global standard for information security management

Care home administration software provider, CoolCare, has achieved the ISO/IEC 27001 (2022) certification — a global standard for information security management.

The ISO/IEC 27001 standard provides guidance for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system. Conformity with the standard means CoolCare has put in place the most up to date system to manage risks related to the security of data owned or handled by the company and conforms to all the best practices and principles of this international standard.

Fiona Allen, operations director, said: “In an increasingly interconnected industry, where care homes rely heavily on technology and digital systems, safeguarding sensitive information and maintaining robust security measures is paramount. We are proud to have achieved ISO/IEC 27001 (2022) standard and provide our customers with confidence that admin can be made easier and also safer.”

CoolCare’s latest updates, such as the launch of its biometric system, show its commitment to innovation as well as to information security. Faces used in the facial authentication are saved as encoded sets of data which tell the device how to match a face to a staff member and all biometric data is encrypted, meaning identification information is securely stored and in line with GDPR best practice.

Allen added: “The ISO standard gives our customers that extra peace of mind, knowing that CoolCare has taken active measures to reduce any vulnerability to the threat of cyber-attacks, as well as being equipped to respond to evolving security risks, plus the added reassurance that information security and controls are at the forefront of CoolCare’s operations.”
