Championing Social Care raises over £20k for Adopt a Grandparent
Championing Social Care’s Christmas Lunch in December raised over £20,000 for Adopt a Grandparent.
The annual flagship event, which had Virgin Money as its headline partner, was also supported by carehome.co.uk, Dormy Care Communities, Catalyst Interiors and Caring Times.
Founder of Adopt a Grandparent, Shaleeza Hasham, said: “Our deepest appreciation goes to Championing Social Care for their continuous support and collaboration. Their advocacy amplifies our mission, providing a platform to showcase our efforts in combating isolation. We also extend our gratitude to all the sponsors who have joined us in our mission to reduce loneliness among the older population. Your support enables us to create meaningful connections and positively impact lives.”
The money will be instrumental in helping Adopt a Grandparent grow its volunteers, develop its technology further and expand its operations across all four home nations. The Christmas Lunch also provided an occasion for the organisation to highlight its growth, particularly in care home group sign-ups and fundraising efforts since its inception.
Mandip Bhogal, chair of the Christmas Lunch and an organising committee member of Championing Social Care, said: “We are thrilled that so many people from across the care sector came together to support this event. It truly reflected the Christmas spirit of joy, celebration and giving. I am immensely grateful to our partners whose support has been integral to its success. And I am delighted that we are able to support Adopt a Grandparent with their vital work. Together, we are collectively shaping a world where empathy, care, and respect resonate as guiding principles, inspiring others to follow suit.”
Together with the Fundraising Ball last autumn, Championing Social Care raised over £400,000 to support organisations working in the care sector.
