Government publishes regulatory judgement on Anchor Hanover Group

The regulator has published a judgement for charitable housing association Anchor Hanover Group, following a self-referral made by the landlord on 20 December 2024.

The judgement confirms a consumer grading of C3, the first consumer rating of any kind in relation to Anchor. The press release says “our judgement is that there are serious failings in the landlord delivering the outcomes of the customer standards and significant improvement is needed”.

It goes on to say: “It is our judgement that there are serious failings in Anchor’s delivery of the outcomes of the consumer standards and significant improvement is needed. … We are currently investigating matters that may impact on our current regulatory judgement that Anchor meets our governance requirements.”

Issues raised by the regulator include unsatisfactory electrical safety inspection reports in over a third of its homes and insufficient understanding on the presence of damp and mould in the home. Read the full report here.

The governance grading is under review to confirm a G1 as of February 2025 and the viability judgement is a V1, with the press release saying the landlord “has the financial capacity to deal with a wide range of adverse scenarios” as of December 2024.
