Swansea care home changes ownership

Fairleigh House

Fairleigh House care home in Swansea, a family-run business offering residential care for up to 20 people with dementia has been sold.

The home is a substantial period property in Sketty, an affluent suburb of the city.

Since it was established, Fairleigh House has been owned by Linda Jones who recently decided to sell in order to retire. She sold to Dr Kannan Muthuvairavan, Mani Neelamegan and Dr Muthukkumaar Gnanavel who also own Manorleigh Spring Meadows, an assisted living facility in Swansea.

Jones said: “This sale marks both an exciting and sad time for me, but I am sure Kannan and his partners will continue to offer a good service to all the residents at Fairleigh House. My sincere best wishes for the future.”

Muthuvairavan added: “We recently got into the industry and are keen to get involved more and feed our appetite of providing quality care. It’s going to be a challenge in two ways – we need to maintain a good standard of care at the home, and also make sure that we don’t get too excited and be careful with our next steps.”

The sale was facilitated by business property advisor Christie & Co.

Oliver McCarthy, associate director – care at Christie & Co, said: “The care home market in the Southwest continues to be very active, with a wide range of buyers looking to acquire both freehold and leasehold assets.”

Fairleigh House was sold for an undisclosed price.
