First resident names new nursing dementia community

HC-One’s Leighton Court new resident Robert ‘Bob’ Sterling with his wife Margaret

HC-One’s Leighton Court care home’s refurbished nursing dementia community is to be named by its first resident.

The home, in Wallasey, Wirral, welcomed the first resident to its nursing dementia care community at the beginning of April after reopening following a refurbishment.

Robert (Bob) Sterling, who moved into the community on 4 April, has been asked to choose its name and has come up with options including Sunshine Manor, Blossom View and Majestic Suite.

Marie Keating, home manager at Leighton Court, said: “We opened the new nursing dementia floor this month and welcoming Bob into our home was such a milestone, especially considering how much he enjoys it. Our wellbeing team involve him in all sorts of activities, most recently our St George’s Day party, where Bob sported his England hat and enjoyed our karaoke disco.”
