Yorkshire care home gets top marks in first inspection
A care home in East Riding, Yorkshire has been rated Outstanding in its first inspection.
St Mary’s Group’s St Mary’s Riverside in Hessle, which opened in February 2022, received the CQC’s top rating following an inspection in April.
Sheila Grant, CQC deputy director of operations in the north, said: “When we inspected St Mary’s Riverside, people we spoke to were overwhelmingly positive about the exceptional levels of care and support they got from staff and managers. It was lovely to see such an excellent variety of activities and events that were organised by the home ensuring people led meaningful and interesting lives.”
Home manager, Laura Barnsley, said: “This is a great achievement for us and bears testament to all of the hard work that the St Mary’s Riverside team have put in since opening, I am very proud of them all.”
St Mary’s Group managing director, Kirsty Crozier, said: “We are very proud of the hard work that has taken place, the responsiveness of our team’s and the standards of care that are being delivered. To achieve this rating of Outstanding for a home so young is truly an amazing achievement.
“We have an excellent team at St Mary’s Riverside who go out of their way every day to make a positive difference to the people who reside at the home, the inspection report is reflective of this. We would like to take the opportunity to thank our wonderful residents, relatives, staff and CQC for their support.”
St Mary’s Group is a relatively new care group provider comprising seven Yorkshire care homes. The group is currently expanding its portfolio and is set to welcome new homes in the next year.
St Mary’s currently employs over 390 staff and cares for over 350 people.
