York care home partners with food bank

Ebor Court care home is partnering up with York Foodbank this Christmas to support the local community.

Residents and staff at Ebor Court are asking friends and neighbours to donate non-perishable food items, cleaning items, toiletries, and baby products to the home to be distributed by York Foodbank.

Ebor Court resident Jean Elvy, said: “The way people are living today reminds me of the years during the war with so many people struggling. I think York Foodbank in very necessary, and if there’s anything we can do I would like to help.’

Adam Raffell, development manager at York Foodbank, said: ‘Over the past 18 months we have seen a 60% rise in people using the Foodbank. Across the board all food banks are working together to do as much as we can for people in our communities.”

Shane Talbot, home manager at Ebor Court, said: “Christmas is a time for joy, so we want to do everything we can to put a smile on the face of everyone in our community this year. We have three donation boxes in our foyer, where all are welcome to drop off any donations.”

Ebor Court, operated by Ideal Carehomes, is a residential and dementia care home, rated Good by the Care Quality Commission.
