Welltower moves for Aria Care

Aria Care is believed to have been acquired by US investment group, Welltower, in a deal said to be worth around £615 million.

Reputable sources have confirmed the deal to Caring Times’s sister publication HealthInvestor UK, but it has not been formally announced and Welltower is yet to respond to requests for comment.

Aria Care offers residential, nursing, and dementia care in 67 care homes across England, Scotland, and Jersey. It has approximately 4,000 employees.

Welltower’s acquisition of the operator comes in a week where it announced it had bought Barchester Healthcare and its related company, Limecay, for £5.2 billion – thought to be the world’s-largest care home deal.

Additionally, Welltower recently purchased 100% of the HC-One-operated portfolio for £1.2 billion.

The company has said it is focusing on the seniors housing market, with plans for £23 billion worth of transactions, including homes in the UK.
