Two people have been charged following the assault of a 91-year-old man in a care home in Portree, Skye.

Police Scotland said a 60-year-old man and 53-year-old man had been arrested and charged following the incident on 14 September 2023.

A report has been sent by Police Scotland to the Procurator Fiscal.

The care home’s operator NHS Highland said it was not able to comment due to the ongoing investigation.

NHS Highland took over operation of the home from HC-One at the height of the Covid pandemic in November 2020.

The care home had previously suffered a major Covid-19 outbreak during which 10 residents died.

Families of the residents who died launched legal action against the home.

The deaths are being investigated by the Crown Office.
