A Surrey care home has held a special awards day to recognise the dedication of its workforce.

The event at Bondcare’s Clarendon Nursing Home in Thornton Heath was attended by Deputy Civic Mayor, Cllr Appu Srinivasan, Thornton Heath Counsellors, Tamar Barrett and Humayun Kabir, and CQC inspector for Sutton and Croydon, David Halliwell.

Staff were recognised for their efforts during the Covid pandemic and for helping the home achieve Good in all areas in its latest inspection.

Home manager, Mathini Navukkarasu, told Caring Times: “We were proud to celebrate all those who have contributed to the home’s achievement of such a wonderful CQC report and also in maintaining a homely environment for the residents who are away from their loved ones.

“The home lost many residents to Covid. It was a difficult time but the staff managed as a team to pull through and have continued showing their dedication to making the team stronger.”

Awards included the best all-rounder, best mentor, team player and rising star newcomer.

Staff were presented with a range of thank you gifts, including bouquets and certificates.
