A Bromley care home has achieved a Good CQC rating in its first CQC inspection since its acquisition by national charity Ambient Support in April 2021.

The Widmore Road service, which provides short breaks and respite service for up to 10 people with a learning disability, was rated Good in all five areas.

Samantha Downer, regional manager for London & South-East at Ambient Support, said: “Prior to Ambient taking over the service it had been rated Inadequate by CQC. With a tremendous amount of hard work and resilience, the Ambient team has transformed Widmore Road working through the challenges and completely turning it around.

“This new CQC report shows that people can send their loved-ones to Widmore Road and feel totally confident that they are being expertly and safely looked after, receiving high-quality person-centred care and being shown the utmost respect.”

Sara Barton, scheme manager at Widmore Road, said: “We are absolutely delighted with our Good CQC rating. As a team we have worked hard to achieve a high-quality service by implementing new processes, offering new and different activities, recruiting staff who up-hold the upstanding Ambient values, and who have a passion in supporting people to be as independent as possible to enable them to achieve a good quality of life.

“We will continue to work closely with the local authority, relatives and carers to develop partnerships to enable Widmore Road to continue to flourish.”
