Skills for Care added to Official Statistics Order 2023

Skills for Care has become an official statistics provider following its addition to the Official Statistics Order 2023.

The recognition, which is reserved primarily for government departments, means all official statistics provided by Skills for Care will include oversight from the Office for Statistics regulation (OSR) ensuring it follows the Code of Practice for statistics.

The code of practice plays an important role in ensuring producers of official statistics inspire public confidence by demonstrating trustworthiness, quality and value in the statistics they produce.

The first report to be published with the Official Statistics Order 2023 badge will be ‘The workforce employed by adult social services departments,’ which is intended to be published in February 2024.

Dave Griffiths, programme head – analysis, Skills for Care, said: “It is a true honour to be added to the Official Statistics Order 2023, and this is a notable recognition of the credibility and value of the detailed data insights which Skills for Care provides.

“This is a credit to a decade of hard work from our workforce intelligence team and the wider organisation.

“Thank you also to the 20,000+ social care providers who share their data with us through the Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set (ASC-WDS) which makes many of our data insights possible.”
