Runwood Homes has announced an above the National Living Wage increase in workers’ salaries.

The care home operator said workers in a variety of roles across the group would receive a pay increase to a minimum hourly rate of £11 from today, five months ahead of schedule.

Gordon Sanders, chief executive of Runwood Homes and Sanders Senior Living, said: “I am delighted to announce this increase in wages for our care teams ahead of Christmas.

“The teams within Runwood Homes and Sanders Senior Living work tirelessly ensuring our residents are cared for to the very best standard.

“By bringing in this increase five months early, I hope it goes to show how much we are thankful for their unwavering commitment to residents living in our homes.”

The current National Living Wage for people over 23 is £10.42.
