Record breaking five-year-old author, Jayce Joyce, has entertained residents at a Sutton Coldfield care home with readings from his books.

The precocious wordsmith, who holds the record for being the youngest person to publish and sell 1,000 copies of a series of books, read extracts from his published works, A Beach with No Sea and Sweet Tooth to residents at Macc Care’s Sutton Rose care home on St Michael’s Road.

Paul Turvey, customer relationship manager at Macc Care, said: “After seeing Jayce’s work with schools, I reached out to see if he’d be interested in sharing his stories and experiences with our residents.

“Here at Sutton Rose, we really want to push the boundaries of what can be achieved, and building long lasting relationships with our local community and ensuring our residents stay connected and involved with other generations are pivotal to that. We’re so grateful to Jayce and his mum, Anim, for coming along to see us and delighting the residents with his imagination and talent.”

Jayce’s mum Anim, added: “Sutton Rose is a beautiful home and the staff were so welcoming. The residents seemed so full of excitement for Jayce to share his stories with them. It was truly heartwarming to see his books bring generations together. Jayce was a little nervous at first, reading to so many people, but he quickly settled with the warm welcome. Thank you to the staff and residents for having us.”
