Police investigation launched into ‘unexpected’ care home deaths

A police investigation has been launched following two unexpected deaths at a Nottinghamshire care home.

The police probe was announced following the deaths at Dannsa House in East Markham last week.

Detective inspector Claire Gould, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were called by colleagues in the ambulance service following the unexpected death of a man at Dannsa House residential home in East Markham on Friday (25 August).

“A second man unexpectedly died at the same property the following day.

“Officers are working on behalf of the coroner to establish the circumstances which led to the deaths.

“We are satisfied there is no risk to the wider community and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this tragic time.”

A spokesperson for the home’s operator, Kisimul Group, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those who died. Our residents and staff at the home are being supported and we are working in full cooperation with the police to support their ongoing inquiry.”

“We are working with the local police to support their work and unlikely to add any additional comment at this time.”
