Loose Women presenter Judi Love hosted a night of celebration at The Surrey Care Awards 2023.

The awards in Dorking, Surrey recognised outstanding professional care given to thousands in care home, home care, nursing home and supporting living and learning disability services throughout Surrey and parts of the Southeast.

Love said: “Tonight, we have seen some people who are at the top of their game. But sometimes, people working in it don’t always get the thanks they deserve. These awards I hope, give you a bit of that much needed recognition.”

Said Lucinda and Matthew Kulupka, co-founders of Home Counties Carers and winners of Home Care Provider of the Year, said: “Finding and embracing the joy in our work is so important to us, and we place great value on each team member, recognising and fostering their contributions. This award serves as a perfect affirmation of our team’s commitment.”

Jappal Singh, Registered Manager of the Year at Care UK’s Libernham Lodge Care Home in Surrey, said: “I am thrilled to have been recognised for my work and hope to continue to build strong relationships with colleagues, residents and relatives so that we can work together for the best possible delivery of care.”

The evening was suitably rounded off by a surprise Special Recognition Award won by the Care Team at County Care Independent Living honouring their work with a couple who met at a learning disability service in Woking, Surrey. The team (Colin Green, Jo Clapham, Kelvin Lindsay, Tracy Cunnington and Mathew Somerscale) organised and helped the couple to get married with commitment and joy. Said Colin: “It was a pleasure and a privilege to be a part of such an uplifting day. The people that I support never cease to inspire me.”

Louise Young, from Guardian Angel Carers, Winner of Care Worker of the Year: Home Based Care, said: “It is an absolute honour to have been nominated & to win this award. To be recognized is a great privilege. To me, it’s not just a job, it’s my passion to make a difference & care for people. The best feeling in the world, is knowing, everyday I’ve helped put a smile on someone’s face.
