New entrant acquires Margate care home

Care home entrant Afir Homes has purchased The Willows Care Centre in Margate, a mental health and dementia care home registered for 40 service users, which occupies five three-storey Victorian houses which have been converted, interconnected and extended.

The vendor is Premiere Care Homes which purchased the business in 2012.

Shawn Cole, director at Premiere Care Homes, said “I am pleased to have completed the sale of The Willows Care Centre which has enjoyed a good reputation and strong occupancy levels under our ownership, and I am sure this will be continued by the new owners. We are now looking forward to concentrating on our other care business.”

Business property advisor Christie & Co facilitated the sale.

John Harrison, director, care at Christie & Co, commented: “We have completed over £15 million of care home transactions in the Southeast over the last three months alone and have a wide pool of well-funded buyers in the region who are looking to acquire similar homes, and I expect this appetite to continue in 2024.”

The Willows Care Centre was sold for an undisclosed price.
