National Care Group expands services in Wiltshire

Adult social care provider National Care Group has expanded its supported living services in Wiltshire with three new developments opening in the past six months.

The new fully refurbished houses are home to 11 people with learning disabilities. The new specialist services have created 20 new jobs.

Zack is autistic and is supported by National Care Group as a tenant at one of the new developments. Since moving into his new supported living home, he has enhanced his independent living skills and has become the house’s dedicated gardener. He is supported to maintain a variety of appointments and interests, including his part-time job at a local garden centre, which he travels to independently each week.

Zack’s mother said: “We are so happy to see Zack thriving in his new home. It was a big step, and we were all a little nervous, but the support from National Care Group Cornerstones has been so reassuring. They held our hands every step of the way and made it an enjoyable process for Zack. He was ready for this move, and we are all very proud of him.”

The three new supported living schemes are part of a programme of new developments in the Southwest, with an additional service due to open this month.

National Care Group worked in partnership with Wiltshire Council and a number of housing partners on the programme of developments. The new services are designed to ensure people supported by the adult social care provider can create a home for themselves and become part of the local community while still getting the expert support they need.

Mike Ranson, chief commercial officer at National Care Group, said: “Our purpose is to ensure people can lead a rich and fulfilling life. The successful partnership working we have established with the team at Wiltshire Council has enabled us to work collaboratively and develop services that will meet an identified local need. Through careful planning, we have worked with housing partners to create services that perfectly match the requirements of the people we will support and enable them to remain in their locality close to family. We look forward to seeing the tenants enjoying their new home and supporting them to become active citizens in their local community.”

Councellor Jane Davies, visited one of the supported living homes recently. She said: “This is a place they can call home. The young people living here understandably want their independence, to be part of their local community, and to enjoy going out and living their life how they want to. They tell us this, and I’m so pleased we can provide this home with support if needed. We have other supported living schemes becoming available. We are putting into action the requests we have had, which aligns with our business plan priorities to ensure people are empowered to live full, healthy and enriched lives.”

National Care Group continues to deliver on its growth strategy and is committed to providing the best quality in care and support. Since 2019, it has opened 27 new residential and supported living schemes in the UK, supporting individuals with learning disabilities, autism, acquired brain injury, and mental health conditions.
