An Ayr care home has been rated Very Good in all categories a year after having been acquired by Maria Mallaband  Care Group (MMCG).

Creggan Bahn Court received the glowing report from the Care Inspectorate following an inspection in March.

The report said: “People experienced very good outcomes supported by compassionate staff and highly motivated leaders.”

It noted families “felt confident about the service” and “particularly praised the nursing team for their responsiveness and very good communication”.

The inspectors said they “received very good feedback from people who appreciated the quality of staff, as well as their hard work, kindness and helpfulness”.

The “very good, competent and skilled leadership provided by the manager and her senior staff team,” was also recorded.

Nurse manager Samantha Baxter-Hendren said: “I am so proud of the team here – they are totally committed to the wellbeing and happiness of those in their care, as this report so rightfully attests.

“Joining the Maria Mallaband family has been a positive step for this home, and with their backing and the benefit of their shared expertise, I am certain Creggan Bahn will continue to thrive.”

Jill Veitch, MMCG regional director, said: “We knew this was a well-run home with an excellent and long-standing team who had built up close and positive relationships with those in their care, so it was very important to us when we took it on that we kept existing colleagues and leadership in place, and maintained the brilliant work they were doing.
