Hove care home changes hands

Family-run business Jayan Care Homes has acquired Wilbury Care Home in Hove in East Sussex, a converted Victorian town house, providing round-the-clock care for up to 19 elderly residents, specialising in dementia, Alzheimer’s and palliative care. All staff will be retained as part of the acquisition.

Vimal Pokar, director of Jayan Care Homes, said: “[The home] has a close-knit family feel and we found it so friendly and welcoming during our visits. We look forward to adding value to residents and staff with updated technology and processes. We’re also delighted that all the staff will be staying with the home, maintaining essential continuity for residents.”

This is the first care home acquisition for Jayan Care Homes and the business has plans to acquire more care homes in the future.

Legal advisors at law firm Shakespeare Martineau supported the acquisition, providing transactional and strategic advice on the purchase as well as refinancing and commercial property support.

Lisa Botterill, corporate partner at Shakespeare Martineau, said: “We’re seeing a huge amount of movement in the care sector, across the country and think this will be a buoyant area for deals throughout the rest of the year.”

Wilbury Care Home was sold for an undisclosed sum.
