A Moray care home is reaching out to local volunteers and community groups to support its activities programme for residents.

The call is being made by Weston View in Keith, which recently became part of the Parklands Care Homes group.

Manager Shona Conlin said: “At Parklands, we have a strong focus on developing meaningful connections for our residents, with activities that are tailored to the interests of each individual. We’d be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to support the team as a Weston View volunteer.

“The primary role of volunteers will be to support activities in the care home and the wider community. We are seeking volunteers with various interests, including music, film, arts and crafts, cooking, storytelling, gardening, flower arranging, exercise, dancing, technology and more. The ability to simply spend time with residents, engaging in conversations and reminiscing, is also invaluable.

“We’d also love local community groups – from schools and nurseries to choirs and exercise classes – to support our activities programme, just as they do at our other care homes. It’s enormously rewarding to work with our residents.”

Regular volunteers are required to hold a PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) certificate. Those without a PVG certificate will receive support from Parklands to obtain one. Visiting community groups do not require a PVG.

Individuals interested in becoming a volunteer, or community groups keen to support the activities programme at Weston View, should email [email protected] or call 01542 887791.
