Innis Mhor, part of the Parklands Care Homes group, has been rated Very Good for leadership and the way it supports people’s wellbeing.

The 5-star rating was given following an inspection of the Tain care home by the Care Inspectorate in January.

Inspectors noted: “People’s needs were met to a high standard by a committed, caring and professional staff team. There were trusting relationships between staff and the people they supported. Staff supported people in a kind and caring manner and encouraged people to retain and build on their skills and independence.”

The report added: “There were visible, competent and confident leaders in place and staff felt well supported by the management team.”

Connections with the local community were being maintained. “People were enjoying interesting and varied activities, and staff were continuing to connect people to their local communities,” the report said.

The report also said that residents and relatives were encouraged to have their say on the running of the home through regular meetings and were supported to participate and contribute to individual care reviews.

Relatives said they felt reassured their loved ones were being well cared for by a competent and knowledgeable care team.

Kate Walker, who manages Innis Mhor, said: “I am absolutely thrilled for the team at Innis Mhor who work hard to provide the very highest standard of care and support for our residents. Everyone makes a contribution regardless of their role – from the cleaners to the kitchen staff, to the carers and nurses. It is very much a team effort and I couldn’t be prouder of them.”

Ron Taylor, managing director of Parklands, added: “Kate and the team do a fantastic job at Innis Mhor, not only in providing high levels of care but in ensuring our residents enjoy their life to the full.”
