Dorset care home bought by local operator

Clarence House care home in Ferndown, Dorset, has been bought by care home operator Southey Care Dorset Ltd for an undisclosed price.

Clarence House care home

Clarence House is a purpose-built care home registered for 29 service users in the categories of old age and dementia. The home has 27 bedrooms, the majority of which have en suite facilities, and ample day space within the property.

The business was previously owned by Shervey Ltd which decided to sell to concentrate on other businesses in its portfolio. Speaking on behalf of the company, director David Henson said: “We are delighted to have agreed and concluded a sale to Southey Care Dorset Ltd and believe that, with their local contacts and knowledge, they will do extremely well at Clarence House.”

A spokesperson for Southey Care Dorset Ltd said the acquisition was a good fit for the company.

“This is an ideal purchase for our company as our existing care home is close by and both homes will complement each other well. We look forward to working with the staff, residents and their families and hope that we will build on the home’s good name in the local area,” they said.

Charles Phillips, director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, adds, “We are delighted to have acted on behalf of Shervey Ltd and it has been a pleasure assisting them with the sale of Clarence House. As they wanted a confidential sale, we immediately thought that Southey Care Dorset Ltd would be an ideal purchaser for this home. We approached them and a deal was agreed within a very short timeframe. This is the second care home they have purchased through Christie & Co, and we look forward to assisting them with any subsequent purchases in the future.”
