Closed North Wales nursing home up for sale

Cottage Nursing Home

The former Cottage Nursing Home in Mold, North Wales is up for sale after its operating company fell into administration and the business ceased trading in February.

The administrator FRP Advisory has appointed Christie & Co to market the property on a vacant possession basis with a full trade inventory.

Initially built as a school, the home traded successfully for more than 30 years, offering care to up to 52 elderly clients in 49 bedrooms over ground and first floor levels, with the majority of bedrooms being en suite. The period property has been extended several times, the most recent including a wing of 24 bedrooms which was completed three years ago. The site has on-site car parking and landscaped gardens on a 0.86-acre site.

Christie & Co said there is a significant undersupply of bed-compliant spaces in the area together with an ageing population in the town.

In a statement James Knight and Rob Kinsman of Christie & Co said: “The former Cottage Nursing Home offers an exciting opportunity for experienced providers to acquire a vacant care home of some considerable scale. Subject to the necessary consents we believe there is clear scope to reopen the care home and once again establish the Cottage as a key social care facility in the community.”

The former care home is offered for sale on a freehold basis, with an asking price of £1,250,000, which includes all fixtures and fittings.
