Closed Marlborough care home up for sale

The former Highfield Residential Home in Marlborough, Wiltshire has been put up for sale for £1.5 million for the freehold.

The home’s owners ran the business until it ceased trading in September this year. The home is being sold as the owners want concentrate on other business interests.

Highfield was formerly registered for 26 service users and comprises 24 bedrooms, 21 of which have en suite facilities, with residents’ accommodation over the ground, first and second floors. It sits on a plot of 0.62 acres and comes with planning permission for an additional 18 bedrooms. The work has commenced so this planning permission is now live in perpetuity. To the side of the property is a large car park and to the rear a mature garden with a patio and a range of trees and plants.

The property could be reopened as a care home, or a change of planning use could be obtained for a variety of different uses, such as a hotel or residential use.

Business property advisor Christie & Co has been instructed to facilitate the sale.

Charles Phillips, director, healthcare at Christie & Co, said: “This is a great opportunity to purchase a former care home located in a popular, affluent and sought-after area which offers great potential for new owners. Subject to all necessary permissions, the property could be suitable for a number of different planning uses and we are confident that a good level of interest will be expressed by applicants.”
