Care provider celebrates inclusion week

Team members from Hamberley Care Homes marked National Inclusion Week with a celebration across the provider’s 22 care homes.
The theme for this year’s National Inclusion Week, which took place at the end of September, was Impact Matters. Hamberley Care Homes used the event to demonstrate its commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace.
Hamberley residents engaged in a range of activities, including enjoying global cuisine and music. The team at Montague House in Huntingdon showcased cultural attire from India, Ghana, Kenya, Sri Lanka and the Philippines, sharing the unique stories behind each traditional outfit, and explaining its significance and the occasions on which it is typically worn.
Paula Yorkston-Toy, home manager, said: “It is very important to everyone here at Montague House that we celebrate the week and recognise that each one of us can have a real impact on the lives of those around us.”
Fiona Smith, home manager at Richmond Manor Care Home in Ampthill, said: “When we come to work our priority is always with our residents and we recognise that each one of us contributes to positive life experiences. We are proud of our diverse workforce. This year the Impact Matters theme has allowed us to truly understand the issues and act for genuine change.”
National Inclusion Week is run by Inclusive Employers, a membership organisation for businesses creating inclusive workplaces.
