After 16 years working as a home manager for HC-One’s Rose Court residential, nursing and dementia care home in Radcliffe, Manchester, Karen Davies celebrated her retirement with colleagues and residents on Friday 20 May.

The event was also attended by Matthew Logan, strategic lead of Bury Council, and Adrian Crook, director of adult social services in Bury, as well as friends, family, past employees of the home, HC-One’s area director Catherine Haycock, and HC-One’s regional director Nicola Garner.

Residents were full of well wishes and enjoyed sharing the day with her, as well as talking to new home manager Leanne Batten-Smith who said: “Karen’s dedication and spirit has been exceptional, and her legacy will carry on at Rose Court.”

Davies, who was recently awarded the Gold Chief Nurse Adult Social Care Award has many retirement plans which include travelling around Europe in the summer, attending music festivals and relaxing on remote beaches.

Allison Porter, wellbeing coordinator, said: “This was a marvellous celebration, to dedicate the day to Karen, after such a long time with us. It was a great turn out and there were lots of well wishes for Karen on her new adventure. Karen always gave her 110% to her residents and that was embedded into us. Karen helped me grow as a person and stand up for what I believe in. Supported me in my job and in my personal life when it was needed. Allowed me to grow in activities and even had some great ideas herself over the 10 years I have work with her.”
