Care group recognises superhero workers

Luxury care group CHD Living highlighted the outstanding work that its care staff do throughout the year with its annual Superhero Awards.

Choreographer and television personality, Arlene Phillips, and drag queen Ms Caera Lott, hosted the awards, which aimed to recognise and reward care workers who go above and beyond.

Phillips said: “Care is all about what can be given to people who need the help of others, and I’m incredibly proud to be a part of it.”

The Superhero Awards judges received nearly 900 nominations, despite the fact that the workforce stands at around 800, with many staff members nominated for more than one of the 18 award categories.

Simmy George, winner of Health Care Assistant of the Year, was nominated by colleagues for her kindness, responsibility, ability to listen attentively and team spirit.

Martine Garden, winner of the Care at Home Worker of the Year, was recognised for taking on the role of mentor and sharing her wealth of experience and knowledge with new staff.

Liakat Hasham, founder of CHD Living, said: “At our awards ceremony, we honour our everyday superheroes – the heart and soul of our organisation. Their dedication, compassion, and resilience have shaped the lives of those in our care.”

CHD Living is a family-owned and operated group of care homes, rehabilitation, and home care services in Surrey and South London.
