Brampton Manor’s rickshaw ride for jockeys
On 16 July Brampton Manor Care Home in Newmarket was a race sponsor at the Newmarket races and to mark the occasion staff at the nursing home raised money for the Injured Jockey’s Fund by cycling 50km on a rickshaw.
The injured Jockey’s Fund support jockeys who find themselves in financial trouble following injury or illness.
The home rented a rickshaw from a local provider and set itself the goal of 10 laps of 5km with residents enjoying the ride in the back. The challenge was completed within seven hours, and with fundraising continuing for a couple of more weeks into August, the team raised more than £600 for its charity so far.
