Research shows low worker happiness in care sector
Worker happiness is higher in vape shops than it is in the care industry, new data has revealed from Deputy, a people platform for shift-based businesses.
Tobacco and vape stores ranked highest for shift worker satisfaction, with 93.4% of workers reporting positive sentiment. Sit-down restaurants (89.7%), fast food (82.9%), florists (82.9%), and food pop-ups (82.4%) rounded out the top five.
In contrast, care homes, doctors’ offices, veterinary clinics and emergency services ranked lowest for employee happiness.
Emma Seymour, chief financial officer at Deputy, said: “This year’s report highlights one of the UK’s most pressing issues – healthcare workers are nearing breaking point. Unless we tackle the root causes of burnout, we risk not only losing front line talent but the long-term viability of critical community services.”
