Plymouth care home rated Good in all categories
Plymouth-based Ernstell House Care Home has secured a Good rating across all five Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection criteria.
CQC inspectors found the 64-bedroom luxury home, part of the Hamberley Care Homes group, is safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led. The report made special mention of the “relaxed and happy atmosphere” in the home led by the “friendly and supportive” staff.
The unannounced visit took place at the start of February. The inspection team spoke with six people who used the service about their experience of the care provided and nine members of staff, as well as six relatives following the visit.
The report highlighted Ernstell House Care Home’s varied activity programme, gym and physio rehab equipment.
Sandra Tucker, home manager, said: “Our culture of care and compassion is at the heart of everything we do, that is the key to providing truly person-centred dementia care, and more complex neurological care services.”
Ernstell House amenities include a café bistro, a private dining room, a hair salon and nail bar, activity room/bar, cinema, resident lounges, dining rooms and quiet lounges. The home also includes a 16-bed Neurocare service developed to meet the unique needs of people with neurological conditions in the Southwest.
