Taking place on Wednesday 21 September at 11 am, QCS dementia care champion Jackie Pool and head of care development for Scotland Senga Currie will join Apetito’s new product development project manager, Kelly Fortune and specialist nutrition category development manager Declan Henderson, who was recently named ‘rising star’ at the British Frozen Food Awards.

The webinar will raise awareness on how to enable people with dementia to dine well and will focus on:

  • Helping individuals to be as independent as possible
  • Viewing dining as a physical, cognitive, emotional and social activity
  • Creating the optimum dining environment for people with dementia

“As one of the UK’s leading care home meals providers, we have an extremely strong understanding of best practice when it comes to dementia-friendly dining and how homes can help ensure dignity and enjoyment in dining,” said Richard Woodward, general manager for Care Homes at Apetito.

“Along with Quality Compliance Systems, we’re looking forward to sharing this knowledge, which will hopefully make a real difference to the dining experience for people living with dementia and help drive awareness to homes of the latest developments and new products that can help them.”

Pool reinforced the importance of sharing, learning, and growing in this key area of care. “As an occupational therapist specialising in dementia, I know the importance of understanding all of the factors, including the symptoms of dementia, that can impact a person’s ability to dine well.

“That is why I have worked with QCS to develop the range of resources available now in QCS Dementia Centre. These guide how to deliver best practice as well as providing a new technology platform for measuring and evaluating the impact on the individuals as well as on the service”
