Two people have pleaded not guilty to wilful neglect following the death of a woman at a Derby care home.

Akhtar also pleaded not guilty to perverting the course of justice.
Alison Linda Foster, 41, of St John’s Road, Stoke-on-Trent and Prabina Thapa, 35, of Clifford Y-Coed, Cardiff were also charged in connection with the death of Shirley Froggett, 84, who died in hospital in October 2018 following a fall at The New Lodge Nursing Home in Derby.
Foster and Thapa were not arraigned and did not enter any pleas.
A further pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for 4 November with the trial planned for 2 December.
Ms Froggett was found on the floor of the lounge at New Lodge Nursing Home on 19 September 2018.
She had suffered injuries including a fractured thighbone after falling out of her wheelchair.
Despite this, no medical assistance was requested and no notification of the incident was reported until nine days later.
When the notification was submitted it was stated Ms Froggatt had fallen out of her wheelchair after opening her lap strap, however, it was later established that no lap belt had been in place.
Her family called for an ambulance after visiting and she was taken to hospital where she contracted broncho-pneumonia and later died.
The care home and manager, Lindsay Foster, were ordered to pay £39,000 for failing to provide safe care and treatment in April 2022 after a prosecution brought by the CQC.
