Temporary home for Phyllis Tuckwell

King’s Lodge Care Home

Surrey-based hospice care charity Phyllis Tuckwell will be temporarily relocating its in-patient unit to King’s Lodge Care Home in Camberley, while its new hospice is being built on its existing site in Farnham.

Phyllis Tuckwell provides hospice care for adult patients living with an advanced or terminal illness and their families.

Opened in 1979, its existing hospice building reached the end of its useful life and is being replaced with a purpose-built, larger, better equipped, more accessible building.

Phyllis Tuckwell’s integrated procedures unit services will be provided from King’s Lodge’s new 10-room penthouse floor which is part of is 18-room addition of large en suite rooms, which are being built to suit Phyllis Tuckwell’s needs. The floor also offers lounge facilities and quiet family meeting areas.

Linda Lloyd, chief executive of Aura Care Living, which operates King’s Lodge, said: “King’s Lodge Care Home is delighted to welcome Phyllis Tuckwell’s staff, patients and families to the care home and we look forward to strengthening an ongoing relationship with this highly respected community charity, who have provided specialist palliative care to the local community for over 40 years. It is a great honour to have them choose King’s Lodge Care Home for their temporary in-patient unit.”

Sarah Church, chief executive of Phyllis Tuckwell commented: “We are really excited by this opportunity. We were very impressed with the patient-centred approach of Kings Lodge and this separate new wing provides us with the facilities we need to continue to provide vital inpatient care for the duration of our new hospice build.”
