As the care sector looks back on the challenges they’ve faced over the past two years, they brace themselves for new trials that lie ahead. News of further waves of coronavirus, compulsory vaccines and staff shortages as a result of Brexit amongst other reasons is on the minds of care professionals across the UK. The time for support, updates and positive call-to-actions has never been more crucial.
On the 16th November 2021, the distinguished Future of Care Conference is taking place at Pavilions of Harrogate. Established in 2017, the conference has quickly taken center stage as one of the most respected and beneficial events for the sector. Specifically, the conference attracts C-level care professionals, care home and home care owners, managers, decision-makers and influencers.
Following the success of the sell-out London Future of Care Conference in June, the Harrogate event has been highly anticipated by those further up the country and promises another fantastic programme. Vic Rayner OBE to chair the conference
Vic Rayner OBE, Chief Executive Officer at The National Care Forum (NCF), will chair the conference following the overwhelming positive feedback from her participation at London earlier this year. After joining NCF in 2016, Vic has made a tremendous impact on the sector with expertise across a wide range of care, support, housing and social policy agendas.

From Dementia to Recruitment and Artificial Intelligence
Across ten individual speaking slots and two panel sessions, speakers will discuss how the sector can provide quality services for the elderly following the pandemic and beyond. Focus will be put on the reform of the Health and Care Bill, building a workforce free from inequalities or discrimination, looking to technology and how cost-effective innovations can drastically improve the sector for generations to come.
The conference will also confront workforce employment challenges and how we can transform recruitment and retention through development programmes, improving the sectors reputation and increasing funding.
As always, the conference will also include a focus on Dementia.
Firstly, Suzanne Mumford, Head of Nursing, Care & Dementia at Care UK will look at life enrichment of those with memory loss and how we can create environments that bring purpose and joy.
Assessing research, Teresa Atkinson from the National Institute of Health Research will discuss what data is needed to better aid the organisations and families that support those with Dementia and will assess whether the Integrated, segregated or specialist approach is more beneficial.
Ending the day is a forward-thinking session from Dr Harro Stokman, Chief Executive Officer at Kepler – a company who specialize in AI for the healthcare industry. Delegates will discover how AI can restore the quality of life for both residents and nursing staff, relieve pressures in care homes and enhance communication between older people and their families.
