Blogger, activist and Sunday Times best-selling author, Wendy Mitchell, is to join a monthly webinar hosted by Excelcare.

Mitchell rose to prominence with her debut book, Somebody I Used to Know, a memoir depicting her experience her early stages of dementia.

She was diagnosed with young onset dementia in July 2014, which inspired her to start a blog about her journey and experience.

On 28 February, Mitchell will be joining Excelcare’s monthly webinar to share her personal experiences of living with dementia, advice with relatives of Excelcare residents and people who may be seeking care for a loved one.

The monthly webinar, named Let’s Discuss Dementia, acts as an open forum for discussion and provides advice to people whose loved ones are living with the disease. Led by dementia care lead, Ann-Marie Harmer, the monthly webinar discusses a range of different topics from dealing with a diagnosis, to supporting people with change and sharing some useful activities for reminiscence to name a few.

Mitchell will be the first guest to share a first-person experience, giving guests an entirely different perspective on what it is like to live with dementia. She will also be discussing details from her new book, What I wish people knew about dementia.

Excelcare is inviting members of the public who wish to hear about Mitchell’s story to their upcoming webinar on 28 February at 6:30pm. If you would like to sign up for a place on this webinar, please click here.
