Humberside care home issued with warning notice

A care home resident has said it felt like staff were “just going through the motions” at an Inadequate rated care home in Humberside.

Lindum House, which is operated by Barchester Healthcare, was issued with a warning notice following the inspection in June.

One resident told inspectors: “I have noticed that they ask how I am, but they don’t always wait for an answer. It’s like they are just going through the motions.”

Another resident commented: “Whilst I am receiving care another staff member will come to the door and talk about another resident – I get to know everything – it’s very unprofessional and I wouldn’t like them to do that about me.”

People were found at risk of harm due to a lack of monitoring of their health needs with staff saying they did not have time to read care plans and risk assessments.

Staff were also found to be not wearing PPE properly or not following the provider’s infection control policy.

A Barchester spokesperson commented: “Since this CQC report was originally written back in June, the home has made a great deal of changes and a new management team is in place. We have worked closely with the local authority and are proud that they are happy with our progress and the home is taking admissions again. We look forward to a new inspection soon which we believe will see an improved rating.”
