Care leaders have been recognised for the sector’s outstanding work during a special event in Downing Street.

Martin Jones, chief executive of Home Instead and chair of the Homecare Association, Martin Ross, director of Care South at Home and Jane Townson, chief executive of the Homecare Association were among the leaders thanked by care minister Helen Whately and chief nurse for adult social care Deborah Sturdy at the event.

Ross, who was chosen to represent the home care industry, said: “What an incredible experience this was. It was fantastic getting to meet the minister for care and members from the Homecare Association and to listen to other experiences surrounding the industry. We were all able to provide support, advice, and exchange ideas with one another.”

Dr Townson said: “It was a wonderful opportunity to recognise and thank all levels of our incredible care workforce, who do so much to improve the lives of others. The Homecare Association is the UK’s membership body for over 2000 home care providers. We work tirelessly to ensure home care is valued and receives the investment it deserves, so we can all live well at home and flourish in our communities. We are grateful to the minister for care, Helen Whately MP, and the chief nurse for adult social care, Deborah Sturdy, for hosting this event and engaging warmly with those present.”
