Skills for Care to celebrate social care in April

Skills for Care is once again #CelebratingSocialCare in April and is encouraging all social care organisations and people working in social care to join in.

This is now the third year that Skills for Care will be dedicating the month of April to #CelebratingSocialCare.

Oonagh Smyth, chief executive, Skills for Care, said: “We’ve been delighted in previous years with how people working all across social care have engaged with the #CelebratingSocialCare activity. We feel it’s really created a sense of pride and community among people working in social care, and we’ve had so many touching stories shared with us about the great work people are doing.

“This year we’re also excited to be launching this campaign alongside continuing work on developing our ‘Workforce strategy for adult social care’, which is a really important step forward in supporting the social care sector. We’ll be sharing further updates on how the strategy is progressing during April.”

Skills for Care has produced a selection of assets to support people with joining in with the celebrations, including social media images, suggested social media posts, selfie cards, email banners and a template for sharing a blog post on your website.

Make sure to use #CelebratingSocialCare and tag Skills for Care in social media posts.

Messages you may wish to share on social media could include:

  • A thank you to your team or manager for all their hard work.
  • A shout out to a colleague for a recent achievement.
  • A photo of your team or the people you support.
  • An update of a recent activity or event you’ve run.
  • A reason why you love working in social care.
  • A message about why #CelebratingSocialCare is so important.
  • Any other positive news from your organisation.

Skills for Care has also created a list of celebratory activities which organisations and individuals can do as part of #CelebratingSocialCare in April. This could include open days, awards and social events.

All assets and activities can be found on the Skills for Care website.
