Rotherwood Group, a care home company providing complex dementia care and luxury residential and nursing care to the older generation, has purchased a home care development site in Battlefield, a suburb of Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Developer Frontier Estates has secured planning permission for a contemporary 70-bedroom care home on the 1.97-acre site. The design includes en suite wet rooms and amenities such as a café, salon, living and day spaces, activity room and a family room. The home will be surrounded by landscaped, accessible gardens.

Rotherwood Group’s chief executive John Fennel said: “We are excited to add to our portfolio in Shropshire as this site perfectly complements our existing home, Roden Hall. This is all part of our longer-term commitment to broadening our impact enriching the lives of the older generation.”

Healthcare development broker Christie & Co facilitated the sale. Works are due to commence next spring.

The site was sold for an undisclosed price.
