Residents evacuated following dishwasher fire at Barchester care home
Residents were evacuated from a Barchester Healthcare care home following a fire on Monday night.
Emergency services, including fire crews from Stamford, Uppingham, Oakham and Corby, police and East Midlands Ambulance Service were called to the incident at Tixover House Care Home in Stamford, Lincolnshire at around 8.10pm.
A Barchester spokesperson said: “Following a fire with a dishwasher overheating in an isolated satellite kitchen, residents were evacuated and are safe and well. On being alerted by the fully addressable fire alarm system, our staff took prompt action in alerting the emergency services and evacuating the area.
“We are very grateful to the emergency services for their support and to the team at the home, who were commended by the fire services for their actions. The safety and wellbeing of our residents is our utmost priority and an investigation will be taking place to ascertain all details relating to the incident.”
Tixover House provides accommodation, personal care and nursing care for up to 48 older people.
