Relatives voice fears over future of Highlands care homes
Relatives of residents have voiced their fears over the future of two Highlands care homes run by HC-One.
The fears were raised following the announcement of the care provider’s closure of Castle Gardens care home in Invergordon.
Cradlehall in Inverness is a purpose-built, 50-bed care home offering residential, nursing and nursing dementia care.
The care home was rated Adequate for supporting people’s wellbeing and Good for care and support planning in its last inspection in November 2022.
Moss Park in Fort William is a purpose-built, 39-bed care home offering nursing and nursing dementia care.
The home was rated Adequate in four categories and Good for setting in its last inspection in November 2022.
A relative of a resident at the home told The Press and Journal: “We love the care our parent receives, and we don’t want anything to change. The staff are brilliant. We are worried that we don’t know what is happening.
“There are conversations going on in the background, because staff have said as much, but we don’t know any detail and that is worrying for us all.”
In a joint statement, HC-One and NHS Highland said: “We are committed to ensuring that people have access to high-quality care that meets their needs.
“HC-One, NHS Highland and The Highland Council continue to work proactively together to find a solution to high-quality care which can be delivered in a sustainable way going forward and we are exploring all options to ensure the continued availability of these services.
“No decisions have been made at this time.”
